How can I monitor building-wide waste performance?
You can monitor waste performance in Carrot Insight through the Home and Portfolio views.
The Home view gives you an overview of a single building. The Portfolio view is available for users who manage multiple buildings and allows you to compare performance across them.
Start with the Key figures section, which is available in both views:
- General waste (kg)
Shows how much waste is not being recycled - Recycled (kg)
Shows how much waste is being sorted correctly - Recycling rate
Gives a quick indication of overall performance
These metrics help you quickly understand how a building or portfolio is performing.
In the Portfolio view, the Summary section gives additional context:
- Buildings
- Tenants
- Unique waste streams
This helps you understand the scale and complexity of your portfolio.
To compare performance across buildings, use the Recycling rates chart in the Portfolio view:
- Identify high-performing buildings
- Spot buildings with lower recycling rates
- Compare performance across your portfolio
You can also use the Number of waste streams chart to understand differences in setup between buildings:
- Fewer waste streams may indicate a simpler setup
- More waste streams may enable better sorting, but can also increase complexity
Use the time filters to:
- Track trends over time
- Compare performance before and after changes
- Monitor the impact of improvements
A good approach is to start in the Portfolio view if you manage multiple buildings, and then use the Home view to explore individual buildings in more detail.
